Introducing Indigenous Lifeworlds HOS113

Introduction

In this unit, you are invited to engage with Indigenous realities through an Indigenous lens. Using the key concept of Lifeworld, you will journey into Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, with a particular focus on the perspectives and experiences of Palawa/Aboriginal people of Lutruwita/Tasmania. Through the scholarship and voices of Indigenous peoples, you will explore historic and contemporary lived experiences for Indigenous peoples. Your awareness will be deepened through a series of virtual tours of Country. Importantly, the unit will also involve reflecting on your own Lifeworld and how this locates you in relation to Indigenous peoples and Lifeworlds. Your learning through this unit will provide a foundation that will be useful across a range of professional practices and environments, and can be further developed in HOS213: Expanding Indigenous Lifeworlds.
