Introduction

An advanced-level supervised reading program of study on selected topics in policing. Students must seek the approval of the Police Studies Coordinator prior to enrolling in this unit. The unit consists of supervised research, within an advanced level study of contemporary policing and public order issues Students determine their preferred topics of study and work under the direction of the Unit coordinator on these topics. Depending on areas of specialisation, students may be allocated a specific research supervisor.

Intensive directed study involving weekly contact with supervisor over 13 weeks

Assessment

Task 1: Introduce your research topic, 1000 words (20%)

Task 2: Identify and discuss the key literature relating to your topic, 1500 words (30%)

Task 3: Critically analyse and answer the problem you have set in your first assignment and developed on in your second assignment, 2500 words (50%)
