  • Appraise national and international epidemiology of trauma and relate it to the development of trauma systems in healthcare and the role of paramedicine in trauma prevention and management. (PPCS 2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 5.1, 7.1)
  • Differentiate between the assessment and management of high-risk population groups (children, elderly and pregnant) as compared to the standard adult patient within the trauma context (PPCS 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4)
  • Rationalise and employ a systematic clinical assessment of a patient involved in a trauma incident using an internationally accepted assessment model (PPCS 1, 3.2, 5.1, 6.3, 8.3, 8.7)
  • Develop and evaluate a prioritised and systematic management plan aligned with national or international peak body guidelines, informed by clinical data gathered during patient assessment, knowledge of pathophysiology of trauma and international evidence for best practice in trauma care (PPCS 2, 3.2,3.3, 3.4, 5.1, 6.3, 8.3, 8.4, 8.1, 8.2, 9.1, 9.4)
  • Implement trauma specific clinical management skills, leadership and communication within the context of a paramedic team-based clinical management process (PPCS 1, 3.1, 3.3, 4.2, 4.3, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1)
