Introduction

This unit will provide a critical examination of the state and complexity of the Australian health and social care system as it relates to older adults. You will become adept at accessing online and other resources provided to support aged care, as well as the spectrum of services that older adults can access. Through simulations and workshops, you will develop skills to interact with and guide consumers of these services, and how to support decision making by consumers from a variety of backgrounds. The unit will provide an introduction to how different health care professionals engage with older adults requiring care and support, particularly how team-based approaches my support the provision of quality care.
