Introduction
Builds on Human Biology (CHG105 and CHG106), giving students an understanding of the function of the main physiological systems and their integration and interaction in the human body. Students learn how to collect and interpret relevant information in order to develop logical ways of dealing with problems associated with the function and control of physiological systems. The unit is practical driven with weekly hands-on practicals that link with key lecture concepts. In addition students are given the opportunity to develop their written and computer literacy skills.
The unit includes the study of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems; some aspects of sports science; integrated physiology; and introduces the patho-physiological consequences of disease in these systems.
