Pharmacy in Health Care CSA118
Introduction
This unit involves a range of on-line and campus-based learning activities that introduce students to key concepts of health and healthcare, the pharmacy profession, roles of a pharmacist, quality use of medicines, government funding, regulatory bodies, the pharmaceutical industry and approval and supply of drugs, with an emphasis on the Australian Health Care system. Students will either visit a community and a hospital pharmacy or undertake a virtual visit. They will also learn about mental health, Tasmanian Aboriginal culture, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health status and culture.

- Search, evaluate and reference drug information and pharmacy-related literature.
- Describe activities and settings where a pharmacist may have an impact on patient outcomes.
