Histopathology CXA222
Introduction
This unit introduces you to the pathological processes that underlie various human diseases. It enables students to recognise common pathological conditions. In addition, the histological methods used to demonstrate bacterial and fungal infections, amyloidosis, pigments, neoplasia and immunocytochemistry will be studied theoretically and in practical sessions. The microscopic recognition of (some of) the disease processes relevant to the above will be taught.

- Communicate in a systematic way, both orally and in writing, using correct, discipline specific terminology related to histopathology.
- Demonstrate a theoretical and practical understanding of the histochemical and immunohistochemical staining techniques used in the diagnosis of common diseases
- Differentiate normal and diseased tissue by identifying microscopically altered cell structures. and staining in benign and malignant disease.
