Introduction

This unit introduces you to the pathological processes that underlie various human
diseases. It enables students to recognise common pathological conditions.
In addition, the histological methods used to demonstrate bacterial and fungal
infections, amyloidosis, pigments, neoplasia and immunocytochemistry will be
studied theoretically and in practical sessions. The microscopic recognition of (some
of) the disease processes relevant to the above will be taught.
