Introduction

This unit is designed to link and complement the student's program of study by introducing them to the work environment. The professional experience placement (PEP) provides students with 140 hours of experience within the Exercise and Sport Science industry. Students will be required to: demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for PEP and employment in the relevant discipline; demonstrate competency in discipline specific workplace tasks; and integrate discipline specific knowledge through practice, reflection and project work

  • Recognise and apply, under varied conditions, the requirements of employment within the exercise science industry.
  • Perform generic and specific skills pertinent to work placement within the exercise science industry.
  • Demonstrate engagement, active participation and reflection in exercise science workplace learning during completion of the minimum practical experience hours required by ESSA for accreditation as an exercise scientist.
  • Recognise and exemplify on work placement the ESSA Scope of Practice for an accredited exercise scientist.
