Introduction
This unit introduces students to the field of organisational and industrial psychology. This is an applied field that draws on core theories and ideas from psychology and applies them to organisational and work contexts. The unit will be taught in two modules. Module 1 - will deal with core topics in organisational psychology such as theoretical perspectives, motivation and attitudes, organisational culture and change and stress in the workplace. Module 2 - will have a more applied focus on areas such as testing, personnel selection (and various processes associated with selection) and topics in the field of human factors such as human error, cognitive workload and situation awareness. These topics will be complemented by activities in practical classes.
