Introduction
Foundations of Nursing 2 builds on key concepts introduced in Foundations of Nursing 1. Within this unit you will continue to develop your understanding of major body systems across the lifespan. You will also advance your understanding of the clinical reasoning cycle and its application to assessing vital signs and conduct focused health interviews and physical assessments. Development of written, verbal and digital communication skills that incorporate the importance of privacy, confidentiality and security of health information form a key part of this unit.

Learning Outcomes
- Apply clinical reasoning to facilitate health assessment and recognise deviations from normal parameters of health for cardiac and respiratory systems.
- Communicate health assessment data effectively in verbal, written and digital format.
- Assess and interpret patient vital signs, and identify normal or deviations from normal.

| Teaching Pattern | This unit is delivered in a blended delivery mode comprising of face-to-face intensives as well as content delivered online via MyLO (My Learning Online). You are expected to devote around 10 hours per week to the study materials, assessment tasks and self-directed learning. You can interact with the online content at any time, which will be in a modularised format. Online tutorials/webinars will provide further opportunity to engage with educators and peers and consolidate your knowledge of the online presentations and readings. The format and content of these sessions will be advertised through MyLO announcements. This unit has 9 hours of on-campus simulation (laboratory) sessions and 1 (2 hour) on-campus workshop. |
