Psychology Assessment and Intervention Skills PSY711
Introduction
This unit will take a disorder specific approach and teach students evidence-based treatment for a variety of clinical psychological disorders.
Consideration will be given to the diagnostic features of specific disorders, prevalence, course, aetiological knowledge and theories, familial, social and cultural features, and differential diagnostic issues.
Where appropriate, sessions will be supplemented with audio-visual material and handouts, and students should be prepared to role-play elements of the key therapy skills when discussed.

- Apply knowledge of key diagnostic classificatory systems used in clinical psychology.
- Synthesise clinical case formulation data including familial, social, and cultural intersections to inform differential diagnosis.
- Apply psychometric instruments and clinical interview skills to assess a variety of clinical psychological disorders.
- Implement advanced psychological intervention skills for a variety of clinical psychological disorders
