Ecosystem Assessment for Policy Design JFA526
Introduction
Being a multidisciplinary unit, this unit brings together the subject material of a number of disciplines to help design policy. In order to manage marine ecosystems sustainably, including decisions to use or conserve these ecosystems, an understanding of the primary tools used to assess and evaluate ecosystems and their contribution to human wellbeing is essential. This unit gives you an overview and use of ecosystem based management and other decision support tools that can be used to assist with the integration of numerous disparate datasets for making sustainable decisions. This unit will cover the rapid assessment techniques through to whole-of-system modelling and will equip students with the skills needed to conserve and manage of coastal and marine resources and biodiversity.
