Research and Design Experience - Advanced KAA411

Introduction

This unit provides students with an opportunity to be engaged in a topic on authentic research or design activity in a laboratory or field setting in STEM. Students will be expected to present their project results via an oral presentation and a report for an intended audience of academics.

This Research and Design Experience - Advanced unit consists of 6 to 8 weeks (ca. 300 hours) of project activity, or equivalent.

  • Select and Implement an appropriate research or design method for a project to be performed under minimal academic supervision
  • Complete a research or design project through working effectively, responsibly, safely and ethically in an individual or team context
  • Collect, record, interpret and draw conclusions from a research or design project in STEM, and propose further work where necessary
  • Communicate research findings to an academic audience as an oral presentation and a written report
