Introduction
This unit focuses on the design of internal spaces emphasising the synthesis of daylight, artificial light, acoustics and detailing within the context of Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) and complex multifunction building types. Decision-making is supported through measuring, calculating and Building Information Modelling of lighting levels and energy demands, daylight factors, acoustic separation and reverberation. The impact of regulations is investigated particularly in relation to health and amenity. It is supported by an investigation into the detailing and documentation of interior spaces and elements with a focus on creativity in design integration.
This unit may be co-taught with unit KDA326 to allow for blended or discipline specific assessment tasks.
