Statutory Land Use Planning KGA512
Introduction
KGA512 Statutory Land Use Planning provides a detailed introduction to the processes and requirements of planning within its legislative context. The regulatory and procedural components of the Tasmanian planning system are covered in detail. You are encouraged to reflect on how planning system practices relate to discussions in KGA511 Planning Theory, Process and Applications. The concentration in KGA512 on procedural concerns complements the other course work units through an emphasis on the legal responsibilities conferred on planners.
The unit is one of the six coursework units in the Master of Planning (K7P) accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia. The unit is also a core component of the Graduate Diploma of Environmental Planning (S6L).

- Evaluate statutory planning processes and legal principles associated with plan making, implementation and administration.
- Use relevant acts and case law to assess typical plan making.
- Demonstrate a capacity to act in an advanced planning role by acting in the role of planner for both small and large developments.
