Courses & Units
Virtual and Mixed Reality Technology KIT724
Introduction
This unit will explore the exciting field of virtual reality, mixed reality and the advanced concepts and technologies for interfacing humans with complex machines. We will discuss their potential impact on the way we think about computers and the way we interact with them. The unit will introduce advanced human-computer interfaces such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. Interface design principles will be reviewed from human factors and technological perspectives. Hardware, software, and design aspects of virtual interfaces will be investigated. We will also learn about these virtual interfaces designed and implemented in medicine, education, design and entertainment. Hands-on experience will be provided through a series of tutorial sessions to provide basic skills for using different tools to develop a student's own simple interface application.

Note
Please check that your computer meets the minimum System Requirements if you are attending via Distance/Off-Campus.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
