Special Topics in Advanced Mathematics KMA459
Introduction
This Honours-level unit is for special topics that are not covered in other units such as KMA453 - KMA458 or externally run units such as those provided by AMSI.
It is offered only with sufficient student interest and subject to staff availability. Students interested in enrolling in this unit as part of their Honours course must contact the Unit Coordinator directly for permission.
Students must arrange for an academic supervisor of the project before approaching the Unit Coordinator to enrol, with confirmation that the supervisor is willing and able to supervise and assess the student for the unit.

Learning Outcomes
- Conduct independent and guided research in a specialist topic in mathematics to an advanced level.
- Select and apply appropriate tools to the solution of problems arising in a specialist area of mathematics/statistics.
- Clearly communicate theoretical results from a specialist topic in mathematics or statistics to an audience of peers, using appropriate notation and language.
