Shipping and the Marine Environment JFA550

Introduction

On completion of this unit, students will be able to describe, in broad terms, the impact of the maritime transport system on the marine environment and the international policy and regulatory framework for the protection of the marine environment. Students will be able to identify environmental risk in the context of maritime transport and develop strategies to avoid/minimise environmental risk. They will be able to implement basic environmental management systems.
