Alumni
The University of Tasmania Library offers their alumni members Library borrower membership free of charge.
Alumni are entitled to access limited electronic resources, you don't need to register, or be located in Tasmania to access these resources. Please note: if you do not have access to your UTAS email username and password, you will need to contact with the Alumni Office. Once your email account has been reactivated, you will automatically have access to these resources.
To Borrow (Tasmanian residents only):

- When you are registering we will set you up with a Library PIN so that you can request and manage your loans
To renew your membership:
If your Alumni library borrowing card has expired and you would still like to borrower items from our collections, please email us. You must include the following
- Borrower card number
- Full name
- Address and phone number
When visiting the Library
- masks must be carried at all times and worn as per current advice from the Tasmanian government, and
- maintain 1.5 metre physical distancing

Alumni Borrowers can:
- Request items and borrow from any UTAS Library (Tasmanian based Alumni only)
- Request a scan of a chapter, extract or article from a print item
- Access some electronic resources when off campus and a wider range of resources when visiting the Library in person
- Access the library during staffed opening hours
By registering and signing your Borrower card you:
- Accept responsibility for any costs for replacing or repairing library items lost or damaged by you
- Agree to advise us if you change your address
- Agree to advise us of any change in circumstances to those that allowed your membership
General Public Members
- Members of the public are welcome to visit our libraries during staffed opening hours
- You are welcome to view our print resources within the Library
- Some electronic resources are accessible when visiting the Library in person
- Tasmanian residents who would like to borrow you can join as a General Public Borrower

Royal Hobart Hospital
The University of Tasmania Library offers Staff of the Royal Hobart Hospital Library Borrower membership.
To Join
Complete the online application form, ensuring that you:
- Provide supporting documentation with your application - Photo ID & evidence of current address and proof of current employment with RHH
- When you are registering we will set you up with a Library PIN so that you can request and manage your loans
When visiting the Library
- masks must be carried at all times and worn as per current advice from the Tasmanian government, and
- maintain 1.5 metre physical distancing

School Students
The University of Tasmania Library provides an introduction for school students to the University environment and is offered in partnership with Tasmanian Schools
Note: If you are a Year 11/12 student already enrolled in the UTAS College Program, you should already have access to the UTAS Library.
To join
Complete the application form, ensuring that you:
- Provide your school email address (not hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc)
- Nominate a four digit Library PIN
- Print and have your parent, guardian or responsible adult complete the application consent form (PDF 87KB)
- Attach consent form with your online application
When visiting the Library

- maintain 1.5 metre physical distancing

- Get help from UTAS Library staff

Students & Staff of other Universities
University of Tasmania Library borrower membership is available to current staff and students (based in Tasmania) from universities who participate in the following reciprocal borrowing program. This membership is free and eligibility criteria apply.
List of participating universities
Students of Universities not participating in ULANZ are welcome to join as a member of the General Public .
Open University students enrolled at other universities may join as a member of the general public.
Members within Tasmania of - University of the Third Age (U3A) are welcome to join as a member of the General Public.

- Provide supporting documentation with your application : Photo ID, proof of enrolment or membership to another university & evidence of current Tasmanian address
