Training in Tasmania

• Most specialist training positions in Tasmania (excluding general practice) are based at one of the four public hospitals operated by the Tasmanian Government through the Tasmanian Health Service.
• Several factors, including capacity constraints in the public hospital system and recognition that training needs to better reflect where healthcare is delivered, have seen a recent expansion of specialist training positions to private hospitals and community settings.
