Bridging Program
Bridging Program: Medicines Australia Code of Conduct Edition 20

The Medicines Australia Code of Conduct Edition 20 came into effect on the 30th of March, 2025. This Bridging Program details the changes from Edition 19 to Edition 20 of the Code of Conduct, including why the changes have been made. Complete this Bridging Program to stay up to date with the standard of ethical conduct expected of, and by, the pharmaceutical industry.
Medicines Australia recommend this Program for anyone who completed Program 1 since 2020 (Edition 19).
This Program assumes a detailed knowledge of Edition 19 of the Code of Conduct.
The Bridging Program is comprised of 4 modules and is estimated to take 3-5 hours to complete.
Intended Learning Outcomes
- Evaluate when promotional materials are balanced
- Identify mandatory inclusions in product-related materials
- Apply requirements on the provision of sponsorship, hospitality, travel and accommodation to healthcare professionals appropriately
- Evaluate case studies and hypothetical scenarios relating to sponsorship of healthcare professionals and third-party events
- Describe the principles-based approach to providing medicines at no or reduced cost
- Describe how to appropriately conduct scientific exchange with various stakeholders
- Describe the appropriate communication of product-specific media statements and evaluate their suitability in given scenarios
- Identify appropriate engagement and communication with patient organisations
- Understand new transparency reporting requirements
- Apply the new ICD Standards to intercompany dialogue regarding complaints
- Explain how member and non-member companies engage with making and hearing of complaints
- Categorise types of complaints and their potential sanctions
