PRIMED

PRIMED represents an innovative collaboration between the University of Tasmania's School of Engineering and the engineering industry.

This initiative seamlessly integrates real-world industry experiences into the entire Bachelor of Engineering degree program.

With a strong focus on preparing students for the workforce, PRIMED fosters active participation of practicing professional engineers in educating the next generation of engineering professionals.

Through PRIMED, students engage with professional engineers in various ways, including classroom activities and immersive field experiences like site visits, workshops, design challenges, and work placements.

About the program

Student engagement

These industry interactions are meticulously documented by students, enriching their practical experience portfolios accumulated during their degree.

As graduation approaches, PRIMED facilitates a structured transition to employment, offering clear avenues for students and employers to connect.

The overarching goal of the PRIMED program is to secure employment for all graduates.

In essence, PRIMED underscores the University of Tasmania's dedication to nurturing forward-thinking, industry-ready graduates who are poised to make a meaningful impact in their chosen field.

How to get involved

If your organisation chooses to be involved in PRIMED, please appoint a suitable representative to liaise with our program coordinator. The first step is to choose your level of engagement and complete a five-minute sign-up process via one of the links in the section below. One of our friendly staff will then contact your representative to discuss your involvement.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your options you are welcome to contact us.

Choose your level of engagement

PRIMED welcomes professional engineering organisations and businesses in the broader engineering sector. We understand how busy you are, so we have developed four tiers of engagement for you to choose from. You decide how much time you'll dedicate to PRIMED and what benefits you'd like to gain from participating in the program.

If this is your first time working with us in PRIMED, we suggest Tier 1 as an ideal option to get started. If you have collaborated with the School of Engineering before, you may want to choose an engagement level between Tiers 2-4.

From here, you can simply indicate your engagement level and pay online. Your fee will be used to help offset the costs of organising activities for students and career events.
