Rad grad stands out from the crowd

Blogger and graduate Katie Parrott brought some epic style to her ceremony.

You probably know Katie Parrott from her Instagram presence and blog.

But what you might not know is she has just graduated with a Master of Protected Area Governance and Management.

Just because it’s an academic occasion doesn’t mean Katie’s graduation was any less colourful and vibrant than her online content.

Katie stood out from the crowd wearing a white and blue china-patterned two-piece suit.

Happily, her silk (the satin overlay that signifies the wearer’s degree) was white and matched beautifully.

Katie, who already holds a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Politics and Geography, completed the two-year master’s in two and a half years.

Unsurprisingly, she is “really, really happy” to have graduated.

“It feels amazing! I was actually doing my master’s alongside my full-time work so to be done is amazing.

I think the master’s will really build on my existing career and my existing academic background.

Katie said the master’s is “very specific”, which was the main appeal for her.

“I already work in policy and I wanted to specialise to further my career prospects in the environmental policy space.”

Katie’s future goal?

“I would love to be working in strategic policy for national parks,” she said.

I think that in Tasmania our national parks are some of our most precious assets and I really like the idea of taking my policy knowledge and applying it into that context.
