Brave Foundation program research

The Brave Foundation is dedicated to providing assistance to young parents through their Supporting Expecting and Parenting Teens (SEPT) Program, with a strong focus on their educational and employment goals, overall well-being, parenting skills, and basic needs.

In collaboration with the Peter Underwood Centre, the Brave Foundation underwent an evaluation between 2019 and 2021, the details of which can be found in this report (PDF 5.8 MB).

The Brave Foundation has secured additional funding for the period of 2022-2025 to sustain and expand its services, as well as to establish a more structured approach to advocacy, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).

As part of this initiative, the Brave Foundation has sought the expertise of the Peter Underwood Centre to conduct research in two key areas:

  • Advice on implementing a systematic framework for internal monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.
  • Research-based evidence on the program's expansion within Tasmania, with a particular emphasis on empowering young parents and aligning with the Tasmanian Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy.

The independent guidance and research provided by the Peter Underwood Centre will complement the Brave Foundation's ongoing MEL efforts and contribute to the organization's transformative work.
