Introduction
English Part 2 is a core subject designed to continue on from English Part 1 to (i) promote knowledge and understanding of English language skills and techniques for future study at The University of Tasmania (ii) develop content knowledge, subject didactic knowledge and knowledge about academic learning and practice in preparation to fit the pedagogical requirements of tertiary study at The University of Tasmania (iii) expand student involvement in critical discourse (iv) develop oral language and leadership skills through active participation in group assignments and presentations for future study at The University of Tasmania.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of the main ideas and supporting details in a range of spoken and written texts.

- Participate effectively in sustained spoken academic discourse, including oral presentation.
- Create academic written texts that present logical and coherent argument and demonstrate paraphrasing, summarising and referencing skills.

- Describe Australian and Tasmanian country/place, cultures, and people and compare these to the students’ own background.
