Microeconomics unit (XPD014)

Introduction

This unit will introduce you to the discipline of Microeconomics - the study of how individuals and firms make decisions and allocate their resources in markets. You will learn about how these choices shape the economy. You will examine the behaviour of individual actors in the economy and how they interact in different market structures. Through this, you will build an understanding of why certain goods are priced the way they are, why certain companies succeed while others fail, and how government policies can impact the economy. By applying simple microeconomic models and analytical skills to the inquiry and reasoning about changes in the real-world markets, you will also develop critical thinking, critical discourse, problem solving and independent study skills.
