Introduction
This unit prepares you to lead classrooms that are both trauma-transformative and inclusive, supporting the wellbeing, safety, and engagement of all learners. You will learn how to create safe, inclusive and empowering learning environments that respond to the diverse needs of learners in your classrooms. With a focus on holistic, strengths-based approaches, the unit integrates theory, practice, and reflection to support the development of practical strategies for classroom management and the creation of inclusive, calm, connected classroom cultures. You will explore the role of proactive and supportive strategies for building positive relationships and promoting student engagement. Through critical examination of the intersections between trauma, social justice, and education, you will develop reflective practices that promote both student and teacher wellbeing. Inclusive pedagogies are introduced to help you respond ethically and effectively to the unique needs of diverse learners, without conflating trauma or disability with behaviour. Designed to be undertaken alongside professional experience placement, this unit provides a structure to apply and refine your learning in the classroom setting.
