Introduction
This unit supports and extends your development as a teacher of English and literacy. The unit contextualises and expands your knowledge in relation to school-based English literacy teaching and learning as you develop your skills in a classroom setting. You will explore how teachers make contextual decisions about text selection, teaching strategies, differentiation and assessment, while engaging more deeply with curriculum and evaluation processes. This unit includes a focus on differentiating teaching and learning for EALD learners in the primary classroom. You will engage in collegial discussions, reflect on your growing knowledge about the English curriculum and contribute professionally to the school’s wider community.
