Introduction
In this unit you will investigate, evaluate, and apply models for managing safety and leading groups in outdoor environments. Learning experiences, including practical field trips, emphasise knowledge of safety/risk management including the strict aversion to fatalities approach, sound judgement, trip planning, navigation, search and rescue, remote area first aid, mental health, and legal liability. In addition, you will examine and evaluate leadership frameworks alongside components of practice that include communication, facilitation, and decision making.
