Outdoor Journeys Extended unit (ENV205)

Introduction

In this unit, you further develop and broaden advanced knowledge and skills required to undertake extended journeys in remote natural environment and consolidate your outdoor and environmental education journey skills, environmental knowledge, and outdoor leadership skills. Theory and practical work encourage the development of safe practice, sound judgment, understanding of self, care for others and the environment, sound preparation, and the ability to learn from experience. The key differentiation between the units Outdoor Journeys (ENV203) and Outdoor Journeys Extended (ENV205) is the context, location (for example, alpine, coastal or river journeys), and leadership opportunities of the journey in which the skills and knowledge development takes place.
