Introduction

In this unit, you further develop knowledge, understanding and experience of Tasmanian river environments to safely conduct effective outdoor environmental education experiences. You model and advocate for social, cultural, and ecological justice in river environments and examine a diversity of world views and ways of knowing to inform pedagogical practices. Through lectures and fieldwork, you will apply place-based pedagogies, leadership, technical paddling and rescue skills, and environmental interpretation to design, implement, and evaluate safe and research-informed outdoor and environmental education programs
