Introduction

Understanding this Region is an interdisciplinary foundation unit which will provide you with a regional, national and international understanding of this part of the world, focusing on its unique and complex nature. You will be introduced to Australian history, to Indigenous matters both historical and contemporary, to Asian studies, and to Australias neighbours and closest relationships in the region. In addition, you will be encouraged to reflect on what you think Australias region is, and to develop an awareness of how identities in this region have influenced one another. You will become familiar with the breadth of study in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and learn how various disciplines approach the same topic from different perspectives

Teaching

Teaching Pattern	The teaching in this unit will be undertaken through weekly recorded lectures accessed via MyLO (Weeks 1-13) and weekly tutorials (Weeks 1-13).  There are no on-campus lectures in this unit. You will access recorded lectures each week via MyLO. All students are expected to attend one 50-minute tutorial each week. Please check the time and venue in MyTimetable.
