Bachelor of Arts Internship unit (HOS300)

Introduction

This unit offers an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills developed in your Bachelor of Arts major in a work-based setting while strengthening your employability through career development learning and experience. You will be assigned to or negotiate an unpaid, part-time internship placement with an organisation approved by the University. As part of your internship, you will contribute to the work of an organisation while undertaking an approved project negotiated between yourself, the organisation, and the unit coordinator. The combination of work-integrated learning and workshops focused on career discussion and peer reflection will offer you the opportunity to develop self-awareness about your career goals and gain a clearer understanding of the industry or community contexts and work cultures which may appeal to you as a Bachelor of Arts graduate. Entry to the unit is selective and subject to approval by the Unit Coordinator and to the availability of placements.

Requisites

Prerequisites

To be eligible for the internship, students must a have a minimum 6-point Grade Point Average or a Distinction average across the units of their major.

Teaching Pattern	30-minute weekly online or F2F check-ins with teaching staff 2-hour orientation meeting with partner  Internship placement, totalling 60-70 hours  Final meeting with unit coordinator in Week 12
