Accounting Futures BFA392

Introduction

Organisations expect graduate accountants to be able to consolidate their technical knowledge and apply it to a range of business contexts which are often ambiguous and changing. Accountants and finance professionals are increasingly involved in cross disciplinary teams which requires a high level of business acumen to relate accounting and financial information to the whole business and real-world contexts. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate the consolidation of knowledge gained throughout their degree to solve problems, make judgements, and communicate recommendations.

This unit provides an increased understanding of the contemporary workplace context through connection with employers, mentor and workplace experience programs. Students will experience specialty clinics in tax, sustainability, project management or start-up/entrepreneurship to gain an understanding of relevant career pathways and emerging areas. Students will reflect on these experiences and relate them to their personal career plans.
