This unit is designed to be taken by students as an elective or experience & engagement unit in conjunction with an overseas study program such as an exchange program, independent study abroad, or short-term program. Using materials available through Creative Commons, the unit comprises a number of themes that encompass the three stages of the overseas study experience: pre-departure, in-country and return. The particular focus is on 'Bringing the Learning Home' and on making the most of overseas study as an opportunity for lifelong learning. The themes are broadly categorised as Exploration, Reflection, Stereotypes, Cultural relativism, Communication, Adaptation and Coping, Transformation, Education and culture, and Professionalism.

This unit is offered fully online. Students are required to study the teaching modules and complete the required activities within the study period. Some of the modules are to be taken while students are traveling in‐country.
