Transition to Professional Paramedic Practice CAA308
Introduction
This capstone knowledge unit focuses on consolidation of knowledge and clinical paramedicine in preparation for paramedic practice. The unit is modularised in three parts. The first focusses on professional development as a graduate paramedic, encapsulating behaviours and attitudes associated with the UTAS graduate. The second module is a student-led learning component designed to give the student the opportunity to study a domain applicable to their own individual development as a paramedic and paramedicine as a profession: the domains are research, leadership, education, primary care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander well-being. Students can will select a domain that is an area on strength, interest and/or anticipated specialisation in their paramedic career. The final module of this unit will prepare the student for the work-force with a focus on managing their internship (or equivalent) and future development as a paramedic.

- Based on the professional attributes of a paramedic generate and present a model of paramedic practice that is patient-centred, mindful and grounded in best-evidence
