Obstetrics and Paediatrics in Paramedicine CAA313

Introduction

This unit will further develop the students' knowledge and skills in the evidence-based assessment and management of obstetric and paediatric patients in the out-of-hospital setting. These patient groups have unique variances which require special attention in addition to the unique emotional aspects of managing this group of patients.
Skills in managing a delivery and the care of the newborn will be covered and the broad range of paediatric clinical challenges in the out-of-hospital setting. The student will explore communication strategies regarding the child, family and during crisis. This unit requires significant student participation as part of the learning process.
