Introduction
This unit explores the role of the emergency nurse in the clinical setting. Clinical practice is an integral part of the unit, through which students explore practice issues in the area of emergency care. The unit focuses on the development of effective communication skills, accurate assessment and prioritisation skills, and the integration of knowledge and evidence based practice concepts learned from CNA772.

- Demonstrate a satisfactory professional, analytical approach to nursing the emergency patient and an understanding of the way in which nurses work in a specialist area.
- Explore the nature of emergency nursing related to practicing in a highly technological, collaborative and time critical environment.
- Apply problem solving skills to nursing management of a patient presenting to the emergency department.
- Critically evaluate nursing care to ensure best practice is implemented in an emergency related specialist area.
