Introduction
This unit will provide advanced training to obtain cell culture skills in the field of pharmaceutical and biomedical science that are essential to successfully complete the required research project you will be conducting in Year 2 of the Master of Pharmaceutical Science program. The purpose of this unit is to enable the student to critically perform and assess advanced laboratory and cell culture methods that researchers working in Drug Discovery and Development utilise on a regular basis.

Learning Outcomes
- Perform diagnostic and investigative applications of mammalian cell culture
- Develop and perform different types of assays (cell free, cell based, enzymatic)
- Design and perform methods for histological tissue analysis
- Analyse and interpret experimental findings related to cell-based, cell-free bioassays as well as histological tissue analysis
