Design WIL B KDA418

Introduction

Design WIL (Work Integrated Learning) units provide you with the opportunity to undertake an immersive study experience related to your own interests and professional development goals. You can undertake a broad range of study opportunities including: internships in design-related businesses and organisations, study tours to meet with leading designers or attend major design conferences and exhibitions, volunteering positions in non-government or community organisations in key areas of interest, and participation in major creative events such as MOFO, Ten Days on the Island or Junction Arts Festival.

Some Design WIL opportunities will be offered by the University and selected on a competitive basis; however most students will be required to identify and organise their own activities in consultation with the course coordinator. Design WIL is offered as either two 12.5% units or one 25% unit. This allows students to take two shorter projects (of approximately 80 hours duration) or one longer project (of approximately 160 hours duration). The work study can be taken in any semester subject to availability of work study opportunities and approval of the course coordinator.

At the end of the unit you will submit a reflective journal documenting and critically reflecting on the activities undertaken and evaluating the learning experience in relation to your expectations and professional development goals.
