Introduction

Positive change in dementia care is shaped by the interaction between evidence, policy, and practice. In this advanced unit, you will examine how these three domains work together to improve the quality of dementia care. You will explore the concept of policy and key dementia policies across local, national, and international settings. You will consider how evidence is translated into policy, and how policy is implemented to drive equitable service provision for people living with dementia.  You will learn about knowledge translation and improvement science to strengthen practice and support positive change. In addition, the unit will introduce you to foundational leadership theory, with an emphasis on its role in enabling and sustaining improvements in dementia care. This unit would suit students with an interest in policy, social work, community services, and health.
