Introduction
In this unit, you will explore the cellular and molecular functions of the human immune system in health and disease; the molecular pathogenic mechanisms of selected infectious agents causing disease in humans; and the use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance mechanisms. Laboratory practical classes will provide opportunities to develop skills in immunology and microbiology techniques, including data generation, recording, analysis and reporting, as well as effective communication using discipline-specific terminology. Engagement in workshops will further enable you to consolidate and extend your understanding of key immunology and microbiology concepts explored in lectures and practicals.
