Introduction

This unit prepares you to become a leader in gerontological care, emphasising adaptable, person-centred and evidence-informed approaches. This unit will equip you as an emerging nurse leader with skills to critically examine the design and impact of policy on service delivery from multiple perspectives and gain insights into governance, workforce, organisational compliance, and operational sustainability. At the heart of this unit is the ability to navigate the policy landscape and lead transformative change to advocate for evidence-informed care, alignment to changing industry expectations, legislation, multidisciplinary working, and promoting the rights of older people.

• Apply leadership principles to navigate practice challenges using evidence-informed practice and aligned with relevant policies and standards.
• Design person-centred care strategies for older people that are evidence-informed, multidisciplinary and responsive to industry legislation and the needs of older people across diverse healthcare settings.
