Introduction

In this unit, you will further develop your knowledge and skills in the delivery of alcohol and other drug interventions. This unit will focus on current contemporary treatment approaches, including psychosocial interventions, pharmacological treatments, and specialist programs such as substitution therapies.

  • Synthesise key concepts underpinning contemporary bio-psychosocial interventions to support change in substance use and other addictive behaviours.
  • Critically analyse and reflect on the provision of sustainable evidence-informed interventions for clients accessing drug and alcohol services.
  • Critically examine the role of pharmacotherapies and associated factors that affect the experience of the client in addiction treatment.

Individual Study – This unit is offered fully online via MyLO (My Learning Online). You are expected to devote around 10 hours per week to the study materials, assessment tasks and self-directed learning.
