Introduction
This unit is designed to be experiential and practice focused. It will build upon paediatric theoretical knowledge and focus on the complex healthcare needs of the paediatric patient and their family/s when requiring specialised nursing care. The skills required in practice to address complex nursing situations in paediatric settings will be covered. You will examine paediatric complications and emergencies requiring nursing intervention, stabilisation, and management during the paediatric healthcare journey. that is evidence-informed, and culturally appropriate that is evidence-informed, and culturally appropriate.

- Apply specialist knowledge to assess and manage complex paediatric health care needs utilising an evidence-informed, sensitive and culturally appropriate approach.

- Assess paediatric complications and emergencies requiring nursing intervention and coordination to determine a management plan.
- Rationalise and communicate ethically and culturally appropriate clinical decision-making processes in paediatric nursing.
