Introduction
Building on foundational knowledge, this unit focuses on the role of intelligence practice in supporting critical decisions made by a range of public safety organisations including policing, emergency management, national security, and border control.
The unit is organised around an evolving hypothetical scenario characterised by shifting, incomplete, and sometimes conflicting information.
You will learn how to transform this information into intelligence, and apply source evaluation, structured analytic techniques, and risk assessments required to make decisions in complex and uncertain public safety contexts. As the scenario progresses and new information becomes available, you will also learn about relevant legal, ethical, and governance requirements that apply to the collection, use, and sharing of intelligence.
On completion of the unit, you will be able to produce and communicate intelligence products to support critical decisions in public safety contexts.
