Introduction

Speech Pathology Practice 3 continues to extend your core knowledge and application of concepts and skills developed in previous units and/or concurrently in Optimising Speech and Fluency and Optimising Cognition and Lifelong Disability. You will integrate and apply your understanding and skills in on-campus intensive workshops and within practice education placements in either a paediatric, adult or mixed practice context. Throughout the learning activities and the practice education placement, you will focus on person and family-centredness, biopsychosocial models of practice, clinical reasoning, self-reflection, critical thinking, cultural responsiveness, and evidence-based practice. You will develop a range of communication and swallowing assessment and management skills across the lifespan. During your practice education placement you will receive moderate levels of support from your practice educator/s, in practice contexts where you have moderate levels of familiarity, and where there are moderate levels of complexity.
