Introduction

This unit introduces human anatomy and physiology through the study of cells, tissues, and the integumentary, defence, musculoskeletal and neuroendocrine systems. Students examine how the human body is organised from the cellular to the systems level and develop the anatomical and physiological terminology required for effective scientific communication. The unit explores the relationships between structure and function, normal variation in human anatomy and physiology, and the physiological processes that maintain homeostasis and normal body function. Students will identify major anatomical structures and develop a foundation for further study in health and biomedical sciences.
