Introduction
This 5-week General English unit is the second half of a 10-week intermediate level which aims to build students English language level. This course develops listening, reading, writing and speaking skills as well as grammar and vocabulary on a range of topics including abstract ideas that are of a personal and professional interest. Within a communicative and interactive classroom environment, the unit focuses on language competencies in - functional language for spoken interactions to ask for and give opinions, change arrangements, give a talk, ask for clarification and repetition, make a complaint, and make comparisons and recommendations; - comprehending reading and listening texts on a range of topics including abstract ideas that are of a personal and professional interest; - writing professional emails, narratives, opinion paragraphs, advantage and disadvantage essay, and changes and differences essay, and; - using level intermediate-level grammar and vocabulary accurately and appropriately. Student language acquisition is checked against the Common European Framework Reference for Language B1+ Checklist of competencies.

- Write letters and texts of up to 200 words on topics that are of a personal and professional interest using appropriate vocabulary and grammar accurately at a CEFR B1+ level.
